There are two ways a POS workstation might go offline:
- Automatically: When POS can’t connect to your organisation’s network, or other Vista services, it automatically switches to offline mode. POS regularly attempts to return to online mode until a connection is reestablished.
- Manually: When POS operators select the Work offline button, they force POS to disconnect from network connections. POS regularly reminds operators to reconnect once the network is stable, however, POS will stay offline until operators choose to work online again.
POS displays a message when its online status changes. Operators can also check the network icon in the status bar for POS’ current status.
Tip! If operators switched to offline mode manually, POS displays how long operators have been working in offline mode for.
Note: If the Vouchers & Gift Cards database is online, POS operators can still issue and redeem vouchers and gift cards, even when working in offline mode at POS.
