You can configure POS to let operators manually upsell a patron's items, which can can help encourage patrons to spend more on concessions.
Before you begin
- The basic item must have been made available for sale at POS in POS Designer.
Example: Small Popcorn.
Steps
- Go to Cinema Manager > Maintenance > Items.
- Create a new item to represent the item upgrade.
Example: Sm-to-med Popcorn Upg
The upgraded item may already exist as an item that can be sold independently (such as Medium Popcorn), but an upgrade item that is used to upsell must be configured to represent the difference between a lower item and an improved one.
- Choose a retail price that represents the amount full amount that the patron must pay for the upgraded item.
Example: A Small Popcorn costs $4.50, Medium Popcorn $5.50. A Sm-to-med Popcorn Upg item should be configured with a price of $1.00. When it is added to the order on top of a Small Popcorn, the total price of $5.50 is reflected. Alternatively, the upgrade item may have a price of $0.80, providing a small discount.
- Save.
The upgrade item must be added to a POS Profile button so it can be sold at POS.
When the Small Popcorn item is added to the order, the Sm-to-med Popcorn Upg item can also be added to upsize to a medium.
