Selection lists help you configure promotions and discounts. They're configured on the Items and Tickets tab of a promotion record (Cinema Manager > Maintenance > Promotions and discounts).
Note: For deals, any number of selection lists can be added to build up complex prerequisites and results by clicking the Add Item and Add Ticket List buttons.
Types of selection list
There are two basic types of selection list:
- The first selection in the table is always the prerequisite, indicated by the text 'Buy any [number] of the items from this list'. A direct price reduction can be made to items/tickets in this list, or they may simply be required purchases for accessing subsequent parts of the deal.
- The additional selection lists are indicated by the text 'And buy any [number] of the items from this list', or 'To [number] of the following films'. These lists can contain discounts that are accessed by purchasing the required items, or they may be further requirements in a complex deal (such as a Season Pass).
Defining eligible purchases
Use selection lists to define which purchasing options must be in place to apply a promotion or discount.
- Requiring purchases from a range: If the Maximum is greater than the Minimum, the selection list becomes a Range, indicated by the text '(And) buy between [lower number] and [higher number] items from this list'. This is available to both the Prerequisite and any Additional selection lists. When Season Pass is selected, this option is only available to Additional selection lists, and is indicated by the text 'To between [lower number] and [higher number] of the following films'
- Adding optional purchases: If the Minimum is set to 0, the selection list becomes Optional, indicated by the text 'And optionally buy up to [number] of the items from this list'. This is only available to Additional selection lists; the Prerequisite cannot be Optional.
List descriptions
Edit list descriptions to describe the function of your configured selection list. This helps when selection lists are collapsed and the items included in the list are hidden.
Tip: This information is also visible at POS and Vista Web when purchasing a Season Pass. POS Operators and patrons are prompted to make any required selections.
Type and Discount Type columns
The Type or Discount Type columns of the selection lists determine the kind of discount applied to the corresponding item/ticket.
Note: Do not confuse this with the Type dropdown on the Items and Tickets tab which determines whether a selection list is an Item List or Ticket List.
