Set up Film Manager to integrate with Cinema Intelligence (CI), to import films and performance data into CI and use CI extensions within Film Manager.
Note: Integration between CI and Vista Film Manager is a 2-way data feed. You have to set up your system to extract data from Film Manager and send it to Cinema Intelligence, and back into Film Manager
Before you begin
- Ensure you have a valid license for Cinema Intelligence (CI).
- Contact your Vista CI implementation specialist to set up your CI connection.
Steps
1. Contact Vista to configure your essential system settings
2. Set up weather mapping for sites
For CI to provide accurate weather information on Film Manager, you must set up mapping of your sites.
- Open Head Office.
- Select Sites.
- Select a site.
- Under Location Details, set the Latitude and Longitude under Mapping.
3. Contact Vista to set up your web service URLS
4. Set up screens
Film Manager uses screen information from Head Office. Screens can be imported into Head Office if they do not exist.
Note: Make sure screens have been updated with the capacities and format attributes, as well as valid opening hours, before importing to Head Office.
- Open Head Office.
- Select Screens.
- For a screen, on the Home tab, select the seating capacity under Capacity.
Note: We recommend including format Attributes
- Click Import From Site.
- Select a Site and click the refresh button.
- Select all or individual screens.
- Click Import.

7. Setting up planning groups
To set up planning groups for Cinema Intelligence integration:

In Head Office > Maintenance select Planning Groups.

Click Create.

Enter the Planning Group name and select values for Primay Cinema and Sites
8. Setting up users
Every user requires Cinema Intelligence credentials to establish a connection between Film Manager and Cinema Intelligence. After you create a new user for in Film Manager, or when you've added all users who require CI, contact Vista's CI implementation specialist to set up CI accounts.
Note: To contact a CI implementation specialist when putting through a request on Vista's support platform, select Cinema Intelligence in the product section.
Support requires the following details of the new user:
- First and last name.
- E-mail address.
- Access rights required (such as forecasting, scheduling, and analytics).
9. Setting up films
In Film Manager, you have to create films in Head Office and download them to the cinema, so that Films, sound formats, and movie formats match in Head Office and Cinema Manager.
- Open Head Office.
- Open Films.
- Select the Sound Format and Movie Formats.
Note: Cinema Intelligence only reads movie formats, not attributes.
- Enter a HO (Head Office) Code.
If you have MovieXchange, select MovieXchange to link films and get the latest updates automatically in Film Manager
10. Contact Vista to set up automating HO (Head Office) codes for films
11. Set up planning policies
In Film Manager, each film must have a Policy which recommends how a film should play.
- In Head Office > Maintenance, select Planning policies.
- Click Create.
- Enter the main programming rules as policies. Use intuitive titles for easy understanding.
- Select Show in Holdover Selection List.
Note: Film Manager requires a default policy. Cinema Intelligence recommends CI Optimized as the start-up policy. Your list of Policies may be adjusted during integration.
