Sometimes, a network printer may be unreachable for printing Prepare slips and Pickup slips. See the following common reasons for printer failure and their alternatives:
- The printer itself is in an error state
- The entire network has gone offline
Printer error state
When an item that requires preparing is sold at POS and the primary prepare slip printer in the appropriate service area cannot be reached:
- The slip is printed on the backup printer. For set up, see Setting up a backup printer.
- POS displays the error message received from the primary printer. For more information, see Printer errors.
Network is offline
If the network at a cinema goes down, POS won't be able to communicate with the Network Printers in the kitchen to print Prepare Slips for ordered items that require preparation. In this case, POS attempts to print the prepare slips locally from a Print Template stored locally on the terminal. For more information, see Offline kitchen printing.
