Ticket fees enable your organisation to retain a portion of a ticket's price when it is purchased by a patron. The ticket fee represents additional services provided by your cinema (for example, electronic transaction fees). The revenue may be kept by your organisation or shared with a film distributor (by negotiation), reducing your overall film hire fees.
Ticket fees are applied as ticket price adjustments, and values may vary for each ticket type and sales channel.
A ticket fee must also be linked to a Box Office sundry item for accounting purposes. This link ensures that ticket fees are recorded as sundry item sales instead of box office revenue. The value of a ticket fee is recorded against its item's sales tax and GL account.
Warning! Ensure that the sales tax and GL account for this item is configured so that the ticket fee values are not reported as concessions revenue.
Example
A Ladies at the Movies ticket is $13.00. Ticket Fees have been applied and represent the additional marketing and staff costs, and the free concession given to the patron on arrival (a glass of champagne).
