A film hire contract defines an agreement between a cinema and a distributor as to what the applicable distribution terms will be and over what date range.
Contract types
Film hire contracts can be created for standard screenings, private screenings, and sneak previews (as configured in Head Office).
Contracts can also be created for specific cinemas, for cinema groups, or for circuits.
Tip: Use the buttons: Add cinema, Add cinema group, and Add circuit buttons to add cinemas to the Cinema and screens section. Separate contracts can be formed for the same film and cinema for special cases such as private screenings or sneak previews with different terms of play.
Contracts can be adjusted to reflect changes in any agreement.
Multiple contracts
Separate contracts can be made for different movie formats of a single film (for example: a 2D and a 3D version of the same film) which may incur different film hire costs.
You can also create separate contracts per week of play for a single film.
Note: If a large number of Cinemas require a Contract that is mostly the same except for perhaps one or two exceptions, configure a contract for the entire Circuit. A unique record will be then created for each cinema, and the few requiring specific changes can be opened and maintained independently.
Film-hire calculation
During film hire payment calculation, Vista groups sessions into 7 day weeks, beginning from the selected start date (and time). You can configure a default start time for this control, using the system setting contractstarttimedefault. If business periods have been configured correctly the Year and Period fields will automatically move to dates that match the beginnings of financial periods.
