If the network at a cinema goes down, POS won't be able to communicate with the Network Printers in the kitchen in order to print Prepare Slips for ordered items that require preparation. In this case, POS attempts to print the prepare slips locally from a Print Template stored locally on the terminal.
- If POS successfully locates a valid print template - The prepare slip is printed locally, including the Service Area which the operator needs to hand-deliver the prepare slip to. POS also displays a Service Area Unreachable warning, with the following message:
Prepare slips have been printed to the local printer.
YOU MUST DELIVER THESE TO THE SERVICE AREAS IMMEDIATELY.
- If POS cannot find a local print template, or the local print template is invalid for any of the Workstation Printers - Nothing is printed and the following warning message is displayed:
Prepare slips cannot be printed to the local printer.
YOU MUST NOTIFY THE SERVICE AREAS IMMEDIATELY.
POS first attempts to use the printer configured for Prepare Slips on Workstation maintenance. The next option is the printer configured for Customer Receipts.
Note: The functionality described here only applies to complete network outage, and not specific printer errors.
