The Workstation Map form provides you with the ability to configure workstations in advance in Cinema Manager. Function and Hardware Templates are mapped to the specified workstation with settings that are common across multiple workstations and sites. Configured workstation settings may be downloaded to appropriate cinemas.
Important! If you change an existing Function or Hardware Template associated with a Workstation, the Vista system will display a warning when an attempt is made to Save. The warning advises that the changes will be applied to all Workstations associated with the template. This is especially important in the case of Hardware Templates, where a change could prevent all associated Workstations from functioning.
Before you begin
- Ensure you are aware of the Hardware used across your sites. For example: the computer, cash drawer, stripe reader, barcode reader, security reader, scale, and printer types, as well as the number of customer displays and printers.
- Set the system setting CreateNewWorkstations to either Workstation Map Only or Both Methods. This allows new workstations to be created using either Workstation Map or the Workstation maintenance form.
Steps
- In Cinema Manager or Head Office, go to Maintenance > Workstations & Profiles.
- Configure a Function Template to define the set up of your Workstation.
- Configure a Hardware Template to define the Hardware used at your Workstation.
- (Optional) In Head Office > Maintenance > System settings, set the system setting AllowSwapHOFunctionTemplate to determine whether a Function Template assigned to a Workstation at Head Office may be replaced in Cinema Manager.
- (Optional) In Head Office > Maintenance > System settings, set the system setting AllowSwapHOHardwareTemplate to determine whether a Hardware Template assigned to a Workstation at Head Office may be replaced in Cinema Manager.
- Go to Maintenance > Workstations and profiles and open your Workstation, defining it using the templates you just defined.
Note: The Workstation ID or Workstation Name, Function Template, Hardware Template and additional site specific details may be configured. Together the selected values define a single Workstation.
- (Optional) In Head Office > Maintenance > Transfer tables, select Workstation Map and ensure that Transfer to Cinema is selected. This determines that your Workstation Map data may be downloaded to Cinema.
- (Optional) In Head Office > Maintenance > Head Office Imports and Exports, export the Unprocessed Download Files to your cinema.
