POS Designer: Examples of changes to profile versions

Make permanent or temporary changes to your POS profiles. 

Example 1: New version for a permanent change

A permanent change is required to add a new range of ice-cream to the Concessions screen. This ice-cream will only be available from the 31 August.

  1. Ensure the profile to base the new version on is selected and open (Tickets and Concessions).

    Note: It is possible to base a new version on a previous version, for this example the version will be based on the original profile.

  2. Click File > New Version.
  3. Change the Additional Notes if necessary to identify the changes in the version.
    For example: New Tip Top Ice-Cream Range.
  4. Set the Effective From Date to 31/08/09.
  5. Do not set an Effective To Date.
  6. Add the new concession buttons to the profile.
  7. Save the profile.

Example 2: New version for temporary date effective change

A promotion for a Harry Potter concession combo will be available from 3 September to 3 October. This will only be a temporary addition to the concession screen.

  1. Ensure the profile to base the new version on is selected and open (Tickets and Concessions).

    Note: It is possible to base a new version on a previous version, for this example the version will be based on the original profile.

  2. Click File > New Version.
  3. Change the Additional Notes if necessary to identify the changes in the version. For example: Harry Potter concession combo promotion.
  4. Set the Effective From Date to 03/09/09.
  5. Set the Effective To Date to 03/10/09.
  6. Add the new concession buttons to the profile.\
  7. Save the profile.

Example 3: New version for a permanent change overlapping a temporary change

A new family size popcorn will be a permanent concession, available to sell from 8 September. The profile must include the Harry Potter promotional combo (from V1) until its effective to date has passed. After the effective to date of the Harry Potter combo, this promotion must be removed from the Family Size Popcorn promotion.

Note: It is not possible to complete the change for this situation using one profile version because this new version is only available after the start date of version 1 and continues past the effective date of version 1. This means that 2 separate profile versions must be created, one including the Harry Potter promotion and one excluding the Harry Potter promotion.

  1. Create a new version for a temporary change with an effective from and to date and including the Harry Potter promotion:
    1. Ensure the profile to base the new version on is selected and open (Tickets and Concessions (V1)).
    2. Click
    3. Click File > New Version..
    4. Change the Additional Notes if necessary to identify the changes in the version. For example: Family Size Popcorn promotion including Harry Potter promotion.
    5. Set the Effective From Date to 08/09/09.
    6. Set the Effective To Date to 03/10/09.
    7. Add the new concession buttons for the popcorn to the profile.
    8. Save the profile.
  2. Create a new version for a permanent change with an effective from date only and not including the Harry Potter promotion:
    1. Ensure the profile to base the new version on is selected and open (Tickets and Concessions).

      Note: It is also possible to base the new version on Tickets and Concessions V2, however the Harry Potter promotion buttons will need to be removed.

    2. Click the Vista Pearl and select New Version.
    3. Change the Additional Notes if necessary to identify the changes in the version. For example: Family Size Popcorn promotion.
    4. Set the Effective From Date to 04/10/09.
    5. Add the new concession buttons for the popcorn to the profile.
    6. Save the profile.

Example 4a: New version for a temporary change overlapping a previous temporary change

In this example, a new, temporary promotion takes effect after a previous promotion has started. The new promotion ends before, or at the same time, as the previous promotion ends.

A new bubblegum frozen coke will be available to sell from 8 September until 3 October (temporary change). The new profile for this concession must include the Harry Potter promotional combo (from V1). Both V1 and V2 profiles have the same effective to date.

After these two promotions are finished, the Original profile will be used.

Create a new version for a temporary change with an effective from and to date and including the Harry Potter promotion.

  1. Ensure the profile to base the new version on is selected and open (Tickets and Concessions (V1)).
  2. Click File > New Version.
  3. Change the Additional Notes if necessary to identify the changes in the version. For example: Bubblegum Frozen Coke promotion including Harry Potter promotion.
  4. Set the Effective From Date to 08/09/09.
  5. Set the Effective To Date to 03/10/09.
  6. Add the new concession buttons for the frozen coke to the profile.
  7. Save the profile.

Example 4b: New version for a temporary change overlapping a previous temporary change

 

In this example, a new, temporary promotion takes effect after a previous promotion has started. The new promotion continues for some time after the previous promotion has ended.

A new bubblegum frozen coke will be available to sell from 8 September until 29 October (temporary change). The new profile for this concession must include the Harry Potter promotional combo (from V1) until its effective to date has passed (effective to 3 October). After the effective to date of the Harry Potter combo, this promotion must be removed from the bubblegum frozen coke promotion.

Note: It is not possible to complete the change for this situation using one profile version because this new version is only available after the start date of version 1 and continues past the effective date of version 1. This means that 2 separate profile versions must be created, one including the Harry Potter promotion (before 3 October) and one excluding the Harry Potter promotion (from 4 October).

After these two promotions are finished, the Original profile will be used.

  1. Create the first new version for a temporary change with an effective from and to date and including the Harry Potter promotion:
    1. Ensure the profile to base the new version on is selected and open (Tickets and Concessions (V1)).
    2. Click File > New Version.
    3. Change the Additional Notes if necessary to identify the changes in the version. For example: Bubblegum Frozen Coke promotion including Harry Potter promotion.
    4. Set the Effective From Date to 08/09/09.
    5. Set the Effective To Date to 03/10/09.
    6. Add the new concession buttons for the frozen coke to the profile.
    7. Save the profile.
  2. Create the first new version for a temporary change with an effective from and to date and not including the Harry Potter promotion:
    1. Ensure the profile to base the new version on is selected and open (Tickets and Concessions).
    2. Click the File > New Version.
    3. Change the Additional Notes if necessary to identify the changes in the version. For example: Bubblegum Frozen Coke promotion.
    4. Set the Effective From Date to 04/10/09.
    5. Set the Effective To Date to 29/10/09.
    6. Add the new concession buttons for the frozen coke to the profile.
    7. Save the profile.
