For security purposes, you may want to control how money is refunded to the patron by restricting the payment methods your POS operators can use for refunds and swaps.

For example: A patron pays for a $30 premium ticket using his MasterCard, but then decides to either ask for a refund or swap to a standard $25 ticket. ABC Cinemas has restricted refunds and swaps to use only the payment method originally used to pay for the order. With this restriction, the POS operator can only refund the patron's money back to their MasterCard and cannot refund cash.

Steps

1. Set the system setting RefundLimitTenderMethod=Y.
2. Set the system settings RefundCardPolicy = SWIPE SAME CARD.

Note: If you put this restriction in place, you can also set up an override for staff with the appropriate security clearance. This allows managerial staff to authorise refunds using a different payment method to the one originally used for the order.
