Create table layouts to apply to venues and keep track of table orders at POS. Add backgrounds and shapes to build a picture representative of your seating area.
Create a new table layout
- Open the POS Designer in Maintenance > POS Designer.
- Click File > New > Table Layout Profile.
- Enter a name for the table layout profile.
- Select the screen resolution of the POS terminal(s) that will use the profile:
- Click Change Screen Size.
- Select the New Screen Size. For example: 1024 x 768 (XGA)\
- Click OK.
- Save the table layout profile.
Adding a background image to a table layout
POS Designer allows you to place a pre-made background image that represents the room or environment that the table layout correspond to. Tables and chairs can then be placed on top of it as required.
- In POS Designer, open the required Table Layout Profile.
- In Windows Explorer, locate the background image you wish to use. You may wish to use an existing image of your restaurant area.
Note: Ideally, the image should be the same size as the Screen Resolution of the layout.
- Drag-and-drop the image file from Windows Explorer onto the dotted grid in POS Designer. The image will appear on the grid.
- A Media Set is automatically created for the image.
- Position and resize the background image to fit the table layout profile.
- You can also use images already in the Media Library: Insert > Media Library.
Adding shape objects to a table layout
Shape objects are useful to represent the physical environment of your restaurant if you don't want to use a pre-made backgroud image.
- In POS Designer, select a Shape: Insert > Shape.
- Choose one of the following shapes:
- Rectangle - useful for marking thick walls or straight bars.
- Oval - useful for round stages stages.
- U Shape - useful for curved bars.
- L Shape - useful for bar corners.
- Line - useful for marking thin walls.
- Click in the dotted grid to create a shape.
- Resize and position the shape as necessary.
- Click-and-drag on a point to resize.
- Click-and-hold the Rotate handle of the selected shape to rotate it.
- Repeat steps 1–3 as required.
