Associate a check with a table using previously configured table layouts at POS.
Starting a check using POS table layouts
- On the Checks page of the POS Main Selling Screen, select an unoccupied (white) table.
- In Table Layout View, there is also a Create Check button in the POS button menu. Depending on the Position assigned to the button, you may need to press More to access it.
- EITHER swipe a card/enter a Card No and Expiry Date to associate with the check;
- OR press Cancel to start the check without associating a card.
- Press Enter.
POS returns to the main selling screen. The Order Window is shaded the colour determined by the system setting OrderWindowBackColourTab (blue by default) to indicate that a tab is active, and the Checks page at the top of the screen flashes the Table Number of the active check.
The server can now add items to the check.
Starting a check from an auditorium area using POS table layouts
- On the Checks page of the POS Main Selling Screen, press a link button configured for an auditorium area.
- The Seat Map for the selected screen is displayed.
- Select the seats you wish to create the Check for.
- Press Accept. The keyboard displays to enter the Check Details.
- The Check ID, Name, and Location are automatically filled with the seat number of the first seat selected. Seat numbers are formatted according to the TabIDFormatSeatInfo system setting.
From here, other details can be entered as normal to create the Check. - When a Check is created for a seat in a session, the Start Time of the session is added to the Check Name as an identifier.
Opening a check using POS table layouts
- On the Checks page of the POS Main Selling Screen, select an occupied table.
- The table may be coloured blue, yellow, or orange, depending on the status of the order.
- POS returns to the main selling screen. The Order Window is shaded blue to indicate that a tab is active, and the Checks page at the top of the screen flashes the Table Number of the active check.
The server can now add items to the check.
Navigating between areas using POS table layouts
This only applies if you have more than one area set up.
- On the Checks page of the POS Main Selling Screen, press a configured link button to navigate to the configured additional area.
- Create and/or open existing checks as normal.
- After an order has been completed, the Checks page will return to viewing the Workstation's default area.
Splitting a check using POS table layouts
Note: Depending on the Position assigned to the Split Checks button, you may need to press More to access it.
- On the Checks page of the POS Main Selling Screen, select an occupied (blue) table.
- The check's items are loaded into the Order Window, which is highlighted to indicate that check mode is active.
- Tap + to create a new check.
- New items added to the order are assigned to the new check.
- If the items in the check have been assigned to different Guests, you can also automatically split a check by guest.
Paying a check using POS table layouts
- On the Checks page of the POS Main Selling Screen, select an occupied (blue) table.
- If there is only one Check associated with the Tab order (table), press the Payment button and process payment as normal.
- If there are multiple Checks:
- Select the Check you wish to pay off at the bottom of the Order Window.
- Press the Payment button and process payment for that check. Checks that have been paid off are shaded orange.
- Select the remain check(s) and repeat until all checks are paid off.
Once all associated checks have been paid off, the tab order is automatically Closed.
The table that the check(s) belonged to will revert to unoccupied (white), and will become available for use again.
