At POS, you can limit how many of a food item can be sold during a shift, which can be used to prevent POS operators from selling more items than available stock.
- From the POS Kitchen screen, tap Selling Limits.
Note: Depending on how POS Selling Limits have been set up at your cinema, this button may also be available from the main POS screen.
- On the Selling Limits screen, tap the search button to locate the item to limit.
Tip: Alternatively, tap the barcode button and scan the item's barcode.
- Select the item.
- Select Set Selling Limit to restrict sales for the item.
Today only: Sales of this item will be restricted for today only, on all sales channels.
Indefinitely: Sales of this item will be restricted on all sales channels until you make it available again.
- Using the on-screen number pad, enter the quantity of the item that's available for sale at POS.
- Tap Enter.
The quantity appears in the item's Limit column.
- Tap Exit to save and return to the POS main screen.
POS operators can see the current quantity of each item available for sale on the item's concession button. A POS operator may require approval by a user with higher security level (for example, a manager) to continue selling the item after the available quantity reaches 0, depending on your cinema's POS selling limit settings. For instructions on setting up POS selling limit settings, see Setting up POS Selling Limit buttons and behaviour.
Example
Upon opening for the evening, a restaurant's chef informs the manager that only 300 units of tiramisu dessert are available. The manager enters a selling limit of 300 for this item at POS.
After 300 tiramisu desserts have been sold, POS operators are automatically prevented from taking additional orders for tiramisu.
