At POS, you can stop sales of a food item immediately, for example, when you run out of necessary ingredients for a dish.
Steps
- On POS, press Selling Limits.
Tip: You can also access Selling Limits from Kitchen screen > Settings > Set Selling Limit.
- On the Selling Limits screen, press the search button to locate the item to limit.
Tip: Alternatively, press the barcode button and scan the item's barcode.
- Select the item.
- Select Mark as Sold Out to determine how long the item will be sold out.
Today Only: The item will be marked as sold out on all sales channels for the current day, and become available again at the start of the next business day.
Indefinitely: The item will be marked as sold out on all sales channels until you make it available again.
When an item is marked as sold out, the text is bolded in red, and "0 (sold out)" is displayed in the Limit column.
- Press Exit to save and return to the POS main screen.
To take an order for a sold-out item, POS operators may require approval by a user with higher security level (for example, a manager), depending on your cinema's POS Selling Limit settings.
Example
A restaurant's calamari dish proves unexpectedly popular, and the restaurant runs out of the dish's ingredients mid-way through the service. The chef informs the manager, who immediately flags the calamari dish as sold out in POS.
POS operators are no longer able to take orders for calamari.
