Before you begin:
Go to Head Office Manager or Cinema Manager > Maintenance > System Settings and open the SessionFilmLanguageRecording system setting. Set the Configuration Value field to Yes.
Configure language attributes:
Always set up audio and subtitle language attributes independently. The same language might be supported in a film in both audio and subtitles, but this is not always true. Also, film language attributes are automatically applied to sessions, and the audio language of a particular session often won't match the subtitle language.
- Go to Go to Head Office Manager or Cinema Manager > Maintenance > Attributes and click Create.
- Use the Description field to give your attribute a name.
Tip: Use a naming convention, such as the words "language" or "audio" and "subtitle", to make a distinction between audio language attributes and subtitle language attributes. When the attribute applies to a session, a clear naming convention helps everyone understand what the attribute means. For example, instead of creating an attribute named "German", you might create a "German language" attribute and a "German subtitles" attribute.
- In the Type field, select either Audio Language or Subtitles Language.
Important: Don't select both check boxes. Always set up audio and subtitle language attributes independently.
- Optionally, specify additional details such as a display priority or sales channels. These details determine whether the attribute appears in places like POS or Kiosk.
Note: Language attributes are never used for movie format to screen matching, are always applied to sessions, and are always available for all cinemas.
- Click Save.
Configure film languages:
- Go to Head Office Manager or Cinema Manager > Maintenance > Film Language and open a language.
- Verify that the language is set to Active.
- Select the Used for Audio check box if an audio soundtrack for any film is available in this language. Also, select the Used for Subtitles check box if subtitles for any film are available in this language.
Note: When the Used for Audio check box is cleared, the language is not available in the Available Audio and Original Audio fields in Films maintenance or in the Audio Language field in Sessions maintenance. When the Used for Subtitles check box is cleared, the language is not available in the Subtitles field in Films maintenance or in the Subtitles field in Sessions maintenance. - In the Audio Attribute dropdown menu, select the required attribute.
- In the Subtitles Attribute dropdown menu, select the required attribute.
- Click Save.
