Tips can be processed in several different ways depending on how a customer pays for an order or gives a tip to the operator.
Adding a tip to a payment
Within the normal payment process, a tip can be added to the payment to allow the customer to include the tip in their payment type, e.g. Eftpos, credit card.
The payment can then be processed to include payment of the order and the tip.
- Press the Tip button in the Payment Screen.
- Enter the Tip amount in the Keypad and press the Enter button.
- Press the Complete button to complete the order.
Note: The tip is added to the Amount to pay and processed with the rest of the order.
Adding a tip from a credit card receipt
A tip can be added to a credit card payment after the credit card has been processed for the order. An authorisation code will be entered to match payment details to the tip payment and alter the settlement details of the transaction.
- Press the Tips button on the main screen.
- Enter the Authorisation Code from the receipt and press the Enter button.
Payment details will be retrieved , Card Number and transaction Amount will be displayed on the Tip Entry screen. - Enter the tip amount written on the receipt and press the Enter button.
Note: Supervisor authorisation may be required depending on the percentage above the order value that the tip is, e.g. 20%. This is controlled by the CreditCardAuthoriseTipPercent System Setting. - Verify the Total amount and other details entered match the printed receipt.
- Press the Accept button to process the Tip Entry.
Processing an undeclared cash tip
A cash tip can be processed without attachment to a particular transaction.
This is useful if a customer pays by credit card and hands the server a cash tip. The server can then process the tip using the undeclared cash tip process. This can also be used in the case of a tip jar.
- Press the Tips button on the main screen.
- Press the Undeclared Cash Tips button on the Tip Entry screen.
- Enter the Cash Tip amount and press the Enter button.
- Press the Accept button to process the Tip Entry.
- Press the Ok button in the confirmation message.
