POS is automatically refreshed approximately every ten minutes. The number of minutes before a refresh occurs can be altered in Back Office in the system setting POSRefreshTime. The automatic refresh will only occur if the Order Window is empty.
A refresh can also be performed manually by pressing the Refresh button.
Different data will refresh depending on whether a manual or automatic refresh has been completed.
Automatic Refresh
An automatic refresh will refresh:
- Session Seat Availability
- New Sessions for days in memory
- Price Books
- Concessions
- Films
- Price Cards
- Sales Tax
Changes made to the Workstation, Workstation Group Maintenance, System Settings and other similar settings will not take effect until Point of Sale is restarted. An automatic refresh will be completed every ten minutes unless there are items in the Order Window.
Refreshing a large number of terminals
When refreshing a high number of POS terminals, you can use the POSRefreshVariancePercentage system setting to avoid the terminals all refreshing at the same time and causing a high load on the server.
The value of POSRefreshVariancePercentage acts as a variance percentage of POSRefreshTime. For example, if POSRefreshTime is 10 and POSRefreshVariancePercentage is 20, then the refresh time will be a random time between 8 minutes and 12 minutes.
Manual Refresh
A manual refresh can be activated by pressing the Refresh button, it will refresh the following:
- Session Seat Availability
- New Sessions for days in memory
- Films
- Price Cards (including pricing)
- Items (including pricing)
- Price Books
- Promotions
- Recipes
- Concession Tabs
- Concession Buttons
