In some cases, you might want to order stock as one item but receive it as another.
Example: When ice cream is ordered from the vendor, orders are placed for individual flavours such as Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry. But when stock is received they are all recorded and sold under a single Item called Ice Cream.
This process uses two kinds of items:
- Order items: The individual types of an item that are ordered from the vendor.
- Sellable items: The generic item that is sold to customers and is tracked in stocktake.
Note: It is possible to record stock levels of Order Items, perform stock adjustments, and sell them as components in receipes. However, this is usually not the desired behaviour, so it is important to take extra care that stock and sales activities relate only to the Sellable Item.
Configure order and sellable items
- Go to Head Office or Cinema Manager >
- Configure an Item record for the item you'll sell, for example ice cream. This item allows the system to record stock and sales.
- On the Stock Details tab, configure the Units of Measure. The sellable item must have at least a Base Unit or Stocking Unit in common with the Order items.
- Configure any other settings you need.
- Save the Item record.
- Create Item records for the items you'll order, for example vanilla ice cream, chocolate ice cream, and so on.
- On the Stock Details tab, configure the Units of Measure. The order items must have at least a Base Unit or Stocking Unit in common with the Sellable item.
- On the Stock Replenishment tab, go to the Received as Item field and select the item you configured in step 2.
Note: You can't select an item that is already configured to be received as another Item.
- Configure any other settings you need.
- Save the Item record.
Receive stock
You can now order and receive stock as normal in Cinema Manager. Order the items you created in step 3 above, and receive them as the item you created in step 2.
