Creating custom APIs

Enhance your integration capabilities by creating customer APIs from your data sources and retrieve information from Horizon's data model. 

Important: Your custom APIs are available to anyone who has a partner token for your organisation.

Note: Custom APIs are read-only.

Before you begin

Make sure that you have been assigned access as a Designer or Administrator in Horizon.

Steps

1. Create a custom dashboard.
2. Export the custom dashboard as a data source.
3. Export the data source as a custom API.

Your custom API is now available. Information for developers is available on the Vista developer portal. 

Limitations

• Custom APIs are optimised for simple data retrieval with a limited number of linked sources. API responses are limited to 50,000 records, so data sources returning large volumes of data may require you to implement custom pagination in your Horizon data source. We recommend individual records should be limited to 1000 characters. 
• Custom APIs are optimisted for data sources that execute in under 30 seconds. 
• You cannot collect information about whether a parameter has Visible selected or unselected.
