Upselling is a common practice of providing POS operators with simple methods to upgrade items ordered to larger sizes, in order to help them encourage customers to spend more on concessions.

Before you begin

Make sure you have items of various sizes or qualities already set up (for example, Small Drink, Medium Drink, and Large Drink).

Steps

You can do this in Cinema Manager or Head Office.

1. Go to Maintenance > Items.
2. Open the item you want to set up automatic upsells for.
3. On the Alternate Selection tab, set the Sales Type to Upsells.
4. (Optional) Configure the Prompt Text to be displayed to the POS operator.

   For example: "Would you like to upsize?"

5. In the grid, expand the row for your selected item and use the table to add the items you wish to make available as upsells.

   For example: Medium Drink, Large Drink

6. Save.

When the Small Drink item is added to the order, the operator is prompted to ask the customer if they would like to upsize. If the customer accepts, the operator selects one of the upsell sizes (Medium Drink or Large Drink), which replaces the Small Drink item in the order.
