A Cinema represents a revenue centre or business unit. This can be used to distinguish separate cinemas such as a standard cinema and gold class cinema that operate on the same Site.
Commonly, a cinema is a film exhibitor, but it could also be a bar or restaurant, whose revenue is tracked separately from the film eshibitor on the same site.
A Site may consist of one or more Cinemas.
Vista requires at least one cinema to be configured, even if it has the same details as the site that it belongs to.
Multiple cinemas
You can set up more than one cinema to cater for more than one cinema within a cinema complex. This is relevant when when there are two or more cinemas residing within the same building (for example, in a Cinema Complex).
For example, "Vista Cinemas Miami" (a Cinema Complex) may contain 3 Cinemas:
- Cinema 1 - Vista Cinemas Miami (e.g. 8 screens).
- Cinema 2 - Gold Class (e.g. 2 screens).
- Cinema 3 - Arthouse Cinemas (e.g. 1 screen).
Cinema classifications
Cinemas may be classified by their locality for comparative performance reporting. For example: Cinemas may be marked as Metropolitan using Cinema Location Types.
- Navigate to Maintenance > Cinema Location Types.
- Create new Cinema Location Type records.
For example: Create the record Rural. Then create the record Suburban.
Apply the relevant Cinema Location Type to each Cinema in the Cinema form.
Tip! Do not confuse Cinema Location Types with the Location maintenance form. Cinema Location Types is used to identify the geographical locality of the cinema. Location is used to demarcate amenities inside the cinema for daily maintenance checks.
