Zones are used in conjunction with regions and territories to create a hierarchy of geographical areas used for reporting and analysis. Vista does not have this hierarchy built in, it is created by the way the regions, territories and zones are set up.
Configure zones in Head Office > Maintenance.

Regions | Mid West, Canada | Represent countries or large geographic areas. |
Territories | New Jersey, Sydney | Represent smaller areas such as states or city areas. |
