Use the Area Category maintenance form in Cinema Manager and Head Office to define areas of seats within your screens.
An area category can represent a unique pricing or seat allocation structure, and it need not be physically contiguous. For example, you could have an area category for the first three rows in both sections 1 and sections 3. You can also use area categories to define unique features of particular seats, such as whether they allow in-seat delivery of food and beverage items.
In some cases there may be a 1-to-1 relationship between area categories and physical areas. An area category called Standard may be linked to seating the Stalls, whereas an area category called Premium may include the Balcony. Only ticket types configured with the same area category will be available in these areas, e.g. a Standard Adult and a Premium Adult.
In other cases, there may not be a 1-to-1 relationship. A screen divided into Upper Stalls and Lower Stalls may have both physical areas covered by the same Standard area category.
You can link an area category to your seating layout using the Screens form. You can link an area category to a ticket type using the Ticket Types form.

An area category can be applied to a entire screen or to a select area of a screen's seating layout. A ticket type can also be configured with an area category to link it to a seating area. For example: A ticket type with the area category Premium will only be available for sessions in screens also configured with a Premium area category. |

Cleared Selected |
If this checkbox is selected, seat allocation will be allowed in this area category. A session created in a screen with this area category will have seat allocation enabled by default, but this can be overridden in Showtime Manager. If the checkbox is cleared, seat allocation will not be allowed in this area category. A session created in a screen with this area category will not have seating allocation. |
Any Area in the Cinema |
Cleared Selected |
Only one configured area category in a given site can have this field selected. If the checkbox is selected, a ticket type with this area category will be valid for any seating area. For example: A screen may have multiple seating areas (Standard, Premium, Circle), each with a different area category, and a ticket type is linked to an area category with Any Area in the Cinema selected. When the ticket is sold, the seat can be allocated to any one of the three seating areas. |
