You may have items that have multiple components or ingredients that need to be prepared in different areas. For example, a chicken salad may require the chicken to be prepared at the grill, while the rest of the salad is prepared in a different area. By using modifiers, you can ensure that each part of an item is routed to the correct area.
Set up modifiers to be prepared in a separate service area
- In Maintenance, go to Items or Bulk items.
- Select an existing modifier, or create a new one.
For example, Grilled chicken.
- Select a Default prepare area.
- Go to Alternate items.
Note: If you're using Bulk Items, go to Alternate selection.
- Select Prepare in different service area to modified item.
- Save.
This item will now be sent to the area you selected in step 3 when sold as a modifier.
- Repeat steps 1–6 for as many modifiers as you require.
Add modifiers to a modification group
- Open the item record for one of your modification groups, or create a new one.
- Go to Alternate items.
- Add all applicable modifiers to the modification group.
For example, you may add Grilled chicken, Grilled steak, and Grilled pork to a modification group called Salad meats.
- Save.
