Price books let you create flexible pricing for Items so that you can have different pricing structures at different times or at different cinemas.
- A price book stores a group of items and their alternate prices. The price configured for an item included in a Price Book will override the default price set in Bulk Items.
- A price book is set to be effective for certain time periods. When price changes are required, new price books can be created containing items with new pricing. These can be set up days or weeks in advance.
- Price books will not take effect unless they are assigned to a Cinema Group using Cinema Concessions Price Manager in Head Office.
- If more than one active price book exists with overlapping items, effective dates, and cinema links, the system setting STOCK.PriceBookToUse can be used to determine the price to use.
- You don't have to use price books. If you don't set them up, the system uses the default retail price set in Bulk Items.
- A price book takes affect only after it's linked to a cinema and the valid dates and times you've set up for it have been reached.
- If an item is in multiple price books and those price books share effective dates, the system setting PriceBookToUse determines which price is applied.
- A price book stops taking effect immediately when you inactivate or delete it. However, prices at POS won't change until the POS session is restarted and prices are reloaded.
Example: Within a site there may be a distinction between standard cinema pricing and premium cinema pricing. A Mars Bar might be $1.50 when sold at the standard concessions counter but $2.00 when sold at the premium cinema concessions counter.
The price books can be created in the Price Book maintenance form screen. The Price Book Inquiries data view is a read-only display of the same information.
