Below are common questions asked about Stocktake in Cinema Manager.
General
Question | Answer |
How do I set the Stocktake Mode that I would like to use? |
This is determined by the Cinema Manager system setting StocktakeMode. Select from DayEnd or Flexible. |
How do I set the Stocktake Style that I would like to use? |
This is determined by the Cinema Manager system setting StocktakeStyle. |
How do I set the frequency of Stocktakes? |
This is determined by the Cinema Manager system setting StocktakeDefaultFrequency. This setting only affects stocktakes done in Flexible mode. |
Can Stocktake count quantities be saved automatically as I enter them? |
Yes. This is determined by the Cinema Manager system setting StocktakeSaveOnEntry. If the setting is set to Yes, only items for which a count is entered will be updated during the Close of Day process. If the setting is set to No, you must save entries manually so items are updated. |
How can the Vista system calculate Stocktake entries for me? |
The Stocktake Entry form can be populated with the calculated closing balance figures. This is dependent on setting the Cinema Manager system setting StocktakeAutoFillClose to Autofill. This function has been designed so that the person performing the stocktake can isolate stock exceptions and rectify them. |
Why is Stocktake Entry not calculating my closing balance even though I set StocktakeAutoFillClose to Autofill? |
If Allow Stocktake count to default to closing balance isn't selected on the Stock Location form, closing balances can't be calculated. Ensure Allow Stocktake count to default to closing balance is selected for the required locations. |
How can I ensure that my Stocktake is current when transactions have occurred between when I started and now? |
Clicking Update Stock Movements will detect and review any new stock receipts, stock adjustments, or items made. |
Why do I have a stock variance? |
For items with large variances, check that the initial stock count was correct, and that all stock receipts, adjustments, and Items made records were entered for that item. Also make sure that the item record has the correct unit-of-measure conversion factors. A variance can also occur when an item is included in a Recipe, and that Recipe is configured with the wrong quantity consumed. |
Can I use multiple units of measurement when entering a stock count? |
Yes. Open tablet mode to select an item and enter its count in multiple units of measurement. |
Can the Goods Receipt print automatically after I enter stock receipts? |
Yes. This is determined by the Cinema Manager system setting StkReceipts_PrintGoodRecp. Select from the three options:
|
Why can't I create a stocktake? |
If your organisation performs stocktakes as part of the end-of-day process (controlled by the system setting StocktakeMode), Cinema Manager automatically creates stocktakes when it closes the day. Since there is already an open stocktake, you cannot create a new one on the Stocktake page. |

Day End mode
Question | Answer |
How can I close the stocktake? | In Day End mode, users cannot manually finalise a stocktake, and the Finalise stocktake button is not available on the stocktake page. Instead, the stocktake is finalised as part of the Close Day process. |
What do I do if I’ve made a mistake and need to fix the stocktake after the day is closed? |
Stocktakes cannot be edited or deleted once they have been finalised. If you’ve made an error, you’ll need to make an adjustment in the new stocktake which has been created for the next day. |
Why does today’s stocktake have yesterday’s date? |
When the Close Day process creates the new stocktake for the next business day, it is created with the time and date at which the close day process is run. This is only the name of the stocktake and has no effect on using it to save stock levels for the next day. When the stocktake is saved, the record will have the correct business date. |
The stocktake was finalised, but Cinema Manager didn’t create a new stocktake. |
If you have AutoOpenNextBusinessDay set to No, then the Close Day process won’t create a new stocktake after it finalises today’s stocktake, and you’ll need to do it manually. In some cases where there has been an error, you may need to create a stocktake manually, or check with your system administrator. |
