Vista software sends a wide range of transactional emails to moviegoers. Some examples of these are booking confirmations, gift-store vouchers, loyalty-sign-up confirmations, and payment confirmations.
OpComms (short for Operational Communications) is an application that allows you to view and easily customise these emails using a slimmed-down version of Movio EQ's powerful editor.
Available comms
OpComms currently allows you to customise the following transactional emails:
- Booking confirmation
- Membership password reset
- Membership signup
- React survey invitation (You can see the results of surveys in Horizon and use React filters in your campaigns.)
- Redeemable item purchase
- Subscription anniversary (must be enabled in Loyalty Manager)
- Subscription cancelled (requires Vista 5.0.18)
- Subscription extended (requires Vista 5.0.18)
- Subscription hold (requires Vista 5.0.18)
- Subscription hold cancelled (requires Vista 5.0.18)
- Subscription reactivation
- Subscription recurring payment failure (requires Vista 5.0.18)
- Subscription recurring payment reminder (must be enabled in Loyalty Manager)
- Subscription recurring payment retry success (requires Vista 5.0.18)
- Subscription start
We'll add to these over time. In the meantime, you'll need to continue to use Vista Notifier or Connect for other transactional emails.
Other things to be aware of
- Only bookings made within 72 hours of a session will be sent a survey invite.
- Refunded bookings will still receive a survey invite.
- Concession-only bookings won't receive a survey invite.
- A single survey will be sent for all sites. It's not possible to pilot for a single site.
- Dynamic content is not available yet.
- OpComms can only be used with Cloud Loyalty, Lumos sales channels, or custom sales channels integrated with Digital Platform. It can't be used with on-premises Loyalty, sales channels, or integrations with Connect.
- If you want to use the Subscription anniversary and Subscription recurring payment reminder comms, for DMCC compliance, for example, you need to enable them in Loyalty Manager (under Subscription communications).
Accessing OpComms
Contact your Vista Account Manager, and they'll make sure you've got the right licences (Digital Enablement and Moviegoer Engagement). Then they'll ask the Movio team to get you set up, including with things like the sender email address and the email templates that will be used to create your communications.
Once that's done, you'll be able to access OpComms via the More capabilities menu at the bottom of the EQ sidebar.
Editing a communication
To edit a communication, click its menu icon (three vertical dots) and then Edit (or Continue editing).
The editor is a simplified version of what appears on the Design tab in campaigns. The markers in the header and the sections in the sidebar are limited to the ones that are relevant for the particular communication. See also the limitations above.
Communication states
| State | Description |
| Active | The default state of a communication. You won't see an explicit blue tag like for Editing and Scheduled. Only in this state will moviegoers receive the communication. Editing an active communication won't interrupt the ongoing processing of its trigger. |
| Editing |
The draft state of a communication that has been edited and saved (but not published/made active). You'll see a blue tag, "Editing", on the communication.
In this state, you can:
|
| Scheduled |
An updated version of a communication that will be published/made active on a future date. You'll see a blue tag, "Scheduled", on the communication. The existing active communication will continue to be sent until the scheduled version is published.
If you edit a scheduled change, the date will be removed, the change will go back into the Editing state, and you'll need to reschedule (or publish) it. |
Publishing
You have two options when you publish changes to a communication:
- Publish button: This will make the changes active immediately.
- Schedule button: This will make the changes active on the date you set. In the meantime, the existing version of the communication will continue to be used.
