What is it?
Dynamic Content Caching allows users to re-use previously used images, text, and links for movies they wish to promote using Dynamic Content. The idea is simple - when a user uploads an image, sets some text, or sets a link for a movie or model in Dynamic Content then all of that content is saved for future use. The next time that movie or model is loaded, the most recently used content is loaded automatically for the user.
How does it determine what content to save?
Content is saved in "movie/model + email section" pairs. This is important because certain images cannot be reused across sections (e.g. a wide banner would look out of place in a vertical poster slot).
What happens when a movie or model is added to a new section for the first time:
If a movie or model is added and already has saved content from a different type of email section, the text and links will attempt to match to the new section. If the image is of a similar aspect ratio then the image will be loaded as well, otherwise, it will be skipped.
Once the user edits the text, links, and images in the new section and saves the campaign, that content will be cached for the new section, independently of the old section.
When is the content actually cached?
The content is cached at the time of a successful ‘Save’ of the email template.
How long is content saved for?
Content is saved indefinitely. If the retention policy changes then we will treat it as a feature update and inform you accordingly.
Which elements in a section are cached?
All areas of the section will be cached including text, images, links, button text, etc. The elements used in a section vary greatly from exhibitor to exhibitor.
