Subscription categories can only be created by Movio staff upon request. We have two different ways in which a subscription category is maintained in Movio.
1. Vista Sync
When a subscription category is synced to an opt-in / out preference in Vista, this means that when a member edits that specific preference in their account, the subscribe / unsubscribe will automatically be pushed from Vista to Movio and will be visible in Movio. Movio can push unsubscribes to Vista after the member unsubscribes from the communication.
There are six different opt-in / out preferences in Vista (email, mail, phone, SMS, fax, 3rd party). Email and SMS are automatically designated to those communication types (with email defaulting as Loyalty communication), but the other four can be synced in Movio and can be any type of communication you want it to be, even though it may be named phone, 3rd party, fax, and mail.
After syncing, Movio would reference Vista as the ‘source of truth’ for a members subscription status.
Note: Syncing to a Vista communication preference has to be done by Movio.
2. Movio-managed
A Movio-managed subscription category is when the category is NOT synced to Vista. These categories have to be created by Movio and will be created upon request. You can have as many as you would like.
These subscription categories act the same as a ‘segment of communication’ to whoever is subscribed, with the only difference being that Movio would act as the ‘source of truth’ for a member’s subscription status as it is NOT SYNCED to Vista.
