Throughout the console, you might encounter members who have their email address identified as invalid, for example when using Group Builder:

Where can I track invalid members' email addresses?
For more information on this, please consult the Invalid email address verification guide.
Why is a member email address marked as invalid?
A member is identified with an invalid email address if the email address is deemed improper to communicate with. In the majority of cases, this means that the email address is unreachable, for example, if the email has a syntax error.
This validation safeguards your deliverability reputation by avoiding sending emails to invalid emails addresses.
What defines a member's email address as invalid?
A member's email address is invalid if one of the following occurs:
- Hard Bounce: when an email cannot be delivered to an email server, for example, because the recipient's email address doesn't exist or the recipient's email server has completely blocked delivery
- Hard Bounce (Soft Bounce Exceeded): a soft bounce typically indicates a temporary delivery issue, e.g. due to a full or inactive mailbox. If Movio receives excessive soft bounces over a period of time (typically 3 over 30 days) for a recipient, we consider it a hard bounce and mark the email address as invalid
- Domain Mx: email addresses using non-existent domain, e.g. memberXYZ@gogle.com
- External: based on the list of invalid addresses imported during your Movio implementation (optional)
- Corporate: email addresses associated with a corporate entity, e.g. info@company.com
These types of email addresses are often linked to distribution lists and associated with high bounce rates, high spam complaints, and spam traps. - Complaint: the recipient has marked a previously sent email as spam
- Blacklist: based on an external backlist
- Bad Syntax: email addresses having an incorrect syntax, e.g. memberXYZ@@cinemaabc.com
