Learn about the triggers you can use to initiate a journey in Movio EQ.
Note: These are ordered alphabetically, not according to how they appear in the user interface.
Last transacted
When it runs: Every 12 hours
What it does:
Automatically initiates a journey for members whose last transaction falls within a defined time frame.
Best for:
- Re-engagement campaigns
- Preventing churn
- Post-purchase follow-ups
Configuration:
- Last-transacted date range
- How often members can enter the journey
Examples:
- Send a communication and an offer to members who last transacted 366 to 730 days ago to bring them back to the cinema.
- Send a "thank you" email to members who transacted less than 7 days ago for making a purchase.
Level change
When it runs: Every 3 hours
What it does: Automatically initiates a journey for members when they reach a new Loyalty level.
Best for:
- VIP welcome campaigns
- Loyalty-level-specific offers
- Milestone achievements
Configuration:
- Loyalty level
- How often members can enter the journey
Example: When a member reaches Gold status, send them exclusive Gold-member perks.
Membership anniversary
When it runs: Every 60 minutes
What it does: Automatically initiates a journey for members on the anniversary of their membership start date.
Best for:
- Anniversary celebrations
- "Thank you for being with us" campaigns
Configuration:
Days before membership anniversary
Example: On a person's membership anniversary, offer them a special reward.
Membership expiry
When it runs: Every 60 minutes
What it does: Automatically initiates a journey for members a defined amount of time before their membership expires, allowing you to send renewal reminders.
Best for:
- Expiry reminders
- Renewal incentives
- Preventing churn
Configuration:
- Days before membership expiry date
- How often members can enter the journey
Example: Send a renewal reminder 30 days before a person's membership expires.
Moviegoer enters Loyalty group
When it runs: Twice a day
What it does: Automatically initiates a journey for members who have been added to a specific Loyalty group.
Best for:
- Access to flexibility in Loyalty that isn't currently provided by journey triggers.
- Triggering communications for subscription sign-ups
Configuration:
- Loyalty group
- How often members can enter the journey. If it's likely that members will move in and out of the same group, limit re-entry into the journey.
Important: Although this trigger runs twice a day, Loyalty groups only sync between Movio EQ and Loyalty once a day. The trigger has been designed to run twice a day as a safeguard to ensure members who enter the group enter the journey. Use this trigger along with a Time delay rule to ensure communications are sent at a particular time of the day.
Example: Send a renewal reminder for members whose subscription is expiring in the next 30 days.
Moviegoer’s birthday
When it runs: Every 60 minutes
What it does: Automatically initiates a journey for members a defined amount of time before their birthday.
Best for:
- Birthday greetings
- Special birthday offers
- Loyalty rewards on birthdays
Configuration:
- Days before birthday
- How often members can enter the journey. To prevent fraud, limit this to once a year.
- The recognition/offer being sent needs to be created in Loyalty first.
Example: Send a birthday discount 1 day before their birthday.
New member
When it runs: Approximately every 60 minutes
What it does: Automatically initiates a journey for newly registered members
Best for:
- Welcome campaigns
- Onboarding sequences
- Member-benefits guide
Example: Send a welcome email to every new member who signs up.
Points balance reached
When it runs: Every 60 minutes
What it does: Automatically initiates a journey for members when they have a specific number of loyalty points.
Best for:
- Point-milestone celebrations
- Redemption reminders
- Achievement rewards
Configuration:
- Number of points
- Points type
- How often members can enter the journey
Important: If you set the threshold to 100 points, every member with 100 points or more will enter the journey every 60 mins. If you want members to enter only once when they first reach 100 points (not repeatedly), set the trigger's audience conditions to be ‘No more than 1 time in X days/weeks/months/years’.
Example: When a member reaches 1,000 loyalty points, notify them that they can redeem a reward.
Post-session time
When it runs: Every 60 minutes (checks past sessions)
What it does: Automatically initiates a journey for a member after they've attended a movie session.
Best for:
- Post-movie feedback
- Follow-up offers
Configuration:
- Filter by: Movie, Cinema, Cinema Type, Cinema Tags
- Time after session
Example: Send out a communication thanking the member for visiting the cinema and promoting upcoming movies or offers.
Pre-session time
When it runs: Every 60 minutes (checks upcoming sessions)
What it does: Automatically initiates a journey for members X hours/days before their session start time.
Best for:
- Session reminders
- Pre-movie promotions
- Promoting F&B offerings/menus
Configuration:
- Filter by: Movie, Cinema, Cinema Type, Cinema Tags (for example, Session of ‘Project Hail Mary’ at Cinema X for Cinema type ‘Gold Class’)
- How often members can enter the journey
Example: Send a reminder 3 hours before a member's booked cinema session
