Serve is a mobile point-of-sale application to facilitate restaurant or restaurant-style service. It allows your wait staff to take orders from moviegoers, right from within your cinema. Serve is designed to support food and beverage service during a showtime at a cinema.

Serve is ideal for:
- Cinemas offering in-seat dining
- Restaurant environments, where you need advanced food and beverage features, such as table layouts, checks, and holding and firing
- Increasing spend-per-head for food and beverage sales with prompts for upsells and "another round" of drinks
Serve offers some benefits over a traditional, stationary POS workstation:
- Affordable hardware
- Small device with simple, intuitive user interface that's optimised for restaurant and restaurant-style service
- Runs on an all-in-one payment device, such as an iOS device with tap to pay.
- Complements Rove, which is a mobile POS designed for quick concession sales, either in your cinema lobby or out and about (for example, in a mall)
Features
| Feature | Description |
|---|---|
| Discounts | Allows you to offer patrons concession discounts. |
| Deals |
Allows you to offer patrons deals, such as "buy one get one free". Note: When the Cinema system setting PriceModeConcessions is set to TaxEXCLUSIVE, TaxRuleSystem must be set to USA. |
| Loyalty-exclusive discounts | Allows you to offer concession discounts that are exclusive to Loyalty members. |
| Guest numbering for dine-in |
Allows your staff to specify a guest number for each item they add to an order in Serve. This will appear on the kitchen screen, and on prepare and pickup slips, so your staff know where to deliver the meal or drink. The guest number also allows your staff to split checks by guest in both Serve and POS. |
| Inventory-sales reporting by work area |
Allows you to record inventory (item) sales against your staff's work areas rather than the workstations on which the sales were made. The sales will then be reported against the cinema associated with the work area. |
| POS profile by work area | Allows you to have a different button layout (determined by the POS profile) depending on the work area the device is associated with. |
| Independently-routed modifiers |
Allows you to route a modifier to a separate preparation area from the parent item in the kitchen. For example: If you have a caesar salad where you optionally add grilled chicken, you could prepare the salad at the salad station and route the chicken to the grill. |
| Another round | Prompts your staff to ask patrons whether they want "another round" of drinks delivered in a specified amount of time. |
| Earn points | Allows patrons to earn Loyalty points when their transaction is processed in Serve. |
| Add items after taking a partial payment | Allows your staff to add items to an order after taking partial payment and then collect the balance of the payment. |
| Manual hold | Allows your staff to manually "hold" (prevent in the kitchen) preparation of later courses of a meal until a patron is nearly ready for them. |
| Manual fire | Allows your staff to manually "fire" (request from the kitchen) preparation of later courses of a meal when a patron is nearly ready for them. |
| Gift-card payments | Allows your staff to take gift-card payments in Serve. |
| Loyalty points payments | Allows your staff to take loyalty point payments in Serve. |
| Miscellaneous vouchers | Allows your staff to redeem miscellaneous vouchers in Serve. |
| Living Check | Allows staff to see if a customer is using a self-service or digital check, and allows customers to validate ownership of their check. |
| Split checks and items | Allows customers to split items or split checks so that individual guests in a party can pay for their own food and drink. |
| In-seat ordering | Allows in-seat ordering for a session to begin before the previous session ends. |
| Tipping | Supports tipping when paying via Serve. |
| Comps | Apply comps to a check in Serve, or apply additional items to an existing check with a comp applied. |
Note: Some complex issues require staff to go to POS to resolve.
