Serve requirements

Learn what you need to install and run Serve, Vista’s mobile point-of-sale product.

Prerequisites

• A licensed Serve implementation.
• A configured Vista Food & Beverage solution.
• Reliable wireless network coverage throughout all service areas.
• Any required payment integrations configured for your chosen payment provider. Serve supports integrated payment workflows and can work with all-in-one payment solutions for Adyen and Vista Payments.

Serve and devices running Serve must be on the same network as your Cinema database and services.

Software compatibility and version requirements

Make sure your circuit has the following products installed before you install Serve. We recommend using the current supported versions of Serve, Serve Service, Cinema and Vista Sales Server to use the current features in Serve. Earlier versions may still be supported, but not all features will be available to you.

• Sales Server
• Cinema
• Vista Service Framework
• (Optional) Vouchers & Giftcards
• (Optional) Loyalty

Hardware

Vista strongly recommends using hardware that has been tested and validated to provide the most reliable experience for your staff and guests.

Before purchasing hardware, contact your Vista representative to confirm:

• Supported mobile devices
• Certified payment hardware
• Operating system requirements
• Payment provider compatibility
• Regional certification requirements

Mobile devices

We recommend devices running the current supported operating system, all-day battery life and sufficient memory and storage for operational use.

Note: Other devices may be able to support Serve. Contact your Vista representative if you would like to discuss a particular hardware option.

Payment methods

Important: Not all payment methods are supported by every hardware configuration and may be subject to payment provider and regional support.

Network requirements

Configure your network so that the following port is externally open.

• 4443: Used by web services communicating with Vista Service Framework.

Note: This is the recommended public, secure port.
