Why is POS offline?
There are several reasons why a POS workstation might be offline, including:
- An internet outage.
- A LAN outage.
- A Vista Cloud outage.
- An outage from another service provider.
- A POS operator has selected the Work offline button.
When will POS go back online?
POS workstations normally go back online as soon as the network connection is restored. However, if an operator has selected the Work offline button, then that POS workstation will reconnect only after the operator deselects the Work offline button.
Operators who have selected the Work offline button are regularly prompted to reconnect once a stable connection is detected.
When should POS operators use the Work offline button?
If you’re experiencing a significant outage, or ongoing network disruptions, we recommend that POS operators use the Work offline button.
Your POS workstations will process transactions faster if they’re not trying to reconnect to a disrupted network.
What should I do if POS is offline?
If a POS workstation is offline for only a few minutes, you don’t need to do anything except prepare to manage any tickets printed without allocated seats. Your Vista systems will automatically update when the workstation reconnects.
If you’re experiencing a significant outage—or ongoing network disruptions—then follow our Guide to managing network disruptions at POS.
