Understand the functions available in the POS Designer ribbon so you can start configuring your POS profiles.
Design Tab
The Design tab provides formatting options for text and buttons.
Style Section
Option | Description |
Text Style |
Changes the style of the text displayed. One of three text styles can be selected. By default, Short will be selected as the text style. None - no text will display on the button Short - the short description or name of the item will display on the button Medium - the medium description or name of the item will display on the button Custom - the custom description or name of the item will display on the button. Text will only display on the button with this style if custom text has been entered for the button, if no custom test is available then no text will display on the button. Custom (with price) - the same as Custom, except the price of the item will be displayed on the button along with the custom text. Note: Although you can change the font size, style, and colour for certain text elements in POS (for example, concession buttons), it's not possible to change these across the board, for fixed-text elements. |
Image Align |
Changes the alignment of the image that is displayed on the button. Several combinations of alignment can be selected. It is also possible to select that no image be displayed or the image fills the button. |
Wrap Mode |
Changes the way text and images display together on buttons. Note: Wrap modes do not affect the positioning of text and images that have the Image Alignment set to Fill. Several combinations of wrap modes are available: Overlay - places the text on top of the image on the button Text Above Image - places the text above the image on the button Text Below Image - places the text below the image on the button Text Before Image - places the text left of the image on the button Text After Image - places the text right of the image on the button |
Top Colour |
Sets the colour of the top half of the button. Custom colours can be created. |
Bottom Colour |
Sets the colour of the bottom half of the button. Custom colours can be created. |
Arrange Section
Option | Description |
Align |
Used to align a selection of button, image and text box elements etc. The following sets of options are available: Align Left, Centre, Right - moves the elements to line up to the most left or most right, or the centre point of the items. These options are good to use when aligning vertically selected items. Align Top, Middle, Bottom - moves the elements to line up the most top, most bottom or the centre point of the selected items. These options are good to use when aligning horizontally selected items. Distribute Vertically, Distribute Horizontally - evenly distributes the selected elements either horizontally or vertically (with even spacing between). Use vertical distribution for vertically selected items and horizontal distribution for horizontally selected items. |
Match Size |
Changes the size of the selected element to match the largest one either by Width, Height or Both (depending on the selection). This is useful to make items the same size. |
Bring to Front |
Moves the selected element to the front view. This is used when buttons, images and text boxes overlap each other and certain items need to display in front of others. |
Send to Back |
Moves the selected element to the back to allow other items to be viewed in front. This is used when buttons, images and text boxes overlap each other and certain items need to display in front of others. |
Language Section
Option | Description |
Alternate Language |
Clicking the Alternate Language button will allow pages and labels to be entered in another language. This will be used when the Alternate Language option is activated on POS. |
Insert Section
Option | Description |
Button |
Inserts an unlabelled button into the Concessions page. The default button size will be used when directly clicking the concessions page to add the button. To define the size of the button, drag the mouse pointer and release when the correct size is drawn. |
Label |
Inserts a blank label into the Concessions page. The default label size will be used when directly clicking the concessions page to add the label. To define the size of the label, drag the mouse pointer and release when the correct size is drawn. |
Image |
Inserts a placeholder space for an image to be added. The default size will be used when directly clicking the Concessions page to add the item placeholder. To define the size of the image placeholder, drag the mouse pointer and release when the correct size is drawn. |
Group Box |
Inserts a framed box into the Concessions page. The default group box size will be used when directly clicking the concessions page to add the box. To define the size of the group box, drag the mouse pointer and release when the correct size is drawn. |
Content Section
Option | Description |
Style Gallery |
Opens a Gallery of pre-formatted buttons that can be used as button templates when creating a page. Dragging a button from the gallery onto the page will create a copy of that button including the colour and image etc. Note: To add a configured button to the Style Gallery as a template, right-click the button and select Add to Style Gallery... |
Concessions |
Opens a list of all configured Concession Items, which can be filtered by Description and Item Class. A concession item can be assigned to a button by selecting the button then highlighting the appropriate item and clicking the Apply button. It is also possible to create concession buttons by dragging a concession item from the list, onto the page. This will create a button in the default size with the selected concession assigned to it. |
Promotions |
Opens the Promotions form, which contains a list of active comps and deals. You can assign these to buttons in a variety of ways: Select the button, select the appropriate item, and click Apply. Right-click the button, select Assign Promotion, select the appropriate item, and click Apply. Drag the appropriate item from the list onto the page. This creates a button in the default size with the selected comp or deal assigned to it. Note: The list in the Promotions form does not include voucher- or Loyalty-specific deals or comps. |
Media Library |
Opens the Media Library, allowing images to be added to the Concessions page or assigned to a button, image placeholder. Media Sets can be created and modified from the media library. |
Box Office tab
The Box Office tab contains a small number of display options for the Tickets Screen.
Page Layout Section
Option | Description |
Sessions visible |
Determines the number of Sessions that are visible at once on the Tickets screen. |
Rows per session |
Determines the number of rows for ticket buttons for each session on the Tickets screen. |
Tickets per row |
Determines the number of ticket buttons that display on each row. |
Split Screen |
Allows the Tickets screen to be split into two sections. The lower section may be used to place Concessions buttons, so that concessions and tickets can be sold from a single screen. |
Session Buttons Section
Option | Description |
Image Style |
Determines whether or not an image will be displayed on Session buttons on the Tickets screen. Poster and Tile Graphics can be defined for each Film in Film maintenance. |
Tabs tab
The Tabs tab determines the style of POS tabs. Use these options to set up tabs in the appropriate style for a bar, restaurant, or "Gold class" service.
Page Layout Section

Rows |

The number of tabs to display vertically at POS. |

The number of tables to display horizontally at POS. This option is only available for tabs in the Layout Style: Table. |
Alphas |
|
The number of alphabetic buttons to display in the POS tab sales screen. Alphabetic buttons allow POS operators to enter create tables whose designation begins with a letter, for example: B7. The alphabetic buttons initially appear as blank buttons above the number pad in POS Designer. Double-click on a blank button and type the the letter that you want to appear on this key. |
Links Section
Option | Description |
Workstations |
Opens to Workstation Links window. Workstations and Workstation Groups can be selected to be linked to the current Profile Group. |
Refresh Section
Option | Description |
Refresh Linked Media Sets |
Redraws the image that is linked to the button's concession item. Note: This action does not over-ride the Image Align setting. In particular, no image will appear on the button if the Image Align is set to no image displayed. |
