Starter dashboards in Horizon are prebuilt dashboards for common reporting needs. The labour starter dashboards use Horizon’s standard data definitions and calculations, so you can compare them with other Horizon reporting more confidently. Horizon includes two labour starter dashboards under Operations: Labour - Historical and Labour - Current Day.
Using the labour dashboards
The labour dashboards share the same key performance indicators (KPIs), but they support different reporting needs.
Use Labour - Historical to review labour performance over time across one or more sites. It helps you answer questions such as:
- How has labour cost trended over time?
- Are we consistently over or under budget?
- Are there spikes, anomalies, or seasonal patterns?
- How efficient is labour across the selected period?
Use Labour - Current Day to monitor labour performance for a single site on a single day. It helps you answer questions such as:
- Are we over or under budget on labour cost today?
- Are we staffed correctly for current demand?
- Are we getting good productivity from labour today?
Both dashboards use the same KPIs:
| KPIs | |
| Labour cost: |
Top number: sum of labour cost for the selected period Bottom number: sum of budget labour cost for the selected period |
| Labour hours | Sum of labour hours for the selected period |
| Rostered hours | Sum of rostered hours for the selected period |
| Admits per labour hour | Sum of admits ÷ sum of labour hours |
| Concession spend per labour hour | Sum of concession net revenue ÷ sum of labour hours |
| Labour % of concessions | Sum of labour cost ÷ sum of concession net revenue |
| Cost per guest | Sum of labour cost ÷ sum of admits |
Horizon uses standard definitions for these measures. For example:
- Admits are tickets sold to sessions, including complimentary tickets and swaps, but excluding refunded and voided tickets.
- Labour hours are total paid staff hours.
- Concession spend measures concession revenue using the standard Horizon concession logic for net values.
Choosing the right dashboard
- Review labour trends over time
- Compare actual labour performance against budget across a longer period
- Identify seasonal patterns or unusual changes
- Monitor today’s staffing and labour cost
- Compare actual labour performance with plan for the day
- React to changes in demand during trading
